Cotton lycra fabric by the metre, printed to order
Cotton lycra (also called cotton spandex or CL) is the go-to knit for leggings, tees, dresses, rompers and kids' clothes: soft, breathable and stretchy with great recovery. Ours is 95% cotton / 5% spandex and 152cm wide, and every one of our 3,000+ designs can be printed on it, so you are never limited to a handful of prints.
Which weight do I need?
- Knit 180 (180 GSM): light and breathable. Tees, summer dresses, baby clothes.
- Knit 220 (220 GSM): our everyday leggings weight and the most popular choice. Leggings, dresses, hoodies for kids.
- Knit 260 (260 GSM): heavier and more opaque. Adult leggings, pants, winter skirts.

Cotton lycra FAQs
Does cotton lycra shrink?
Like all cotton knits it can shrink a little on the first wash, so pre-wash it in cold water and dry it the way you will dry the finished garment before cutting.
Is it 4-way stretch?
Yes. Cotton lycra stretches both across and along the grain with good recovery, which is what you want for leggings and fitted tees.
How does pre-order fabric work?
Every design is printed to order. Pick your design and fabric base, order before the round closes (the 15th or the last day of the month), and your fabric is printed in the next run and posted 4–6 weeks after the close. Flat-rate shipping is $14.95 Australia-wide no matter how much you order.
How is the fabric sold?
In 0.5 metre units, cut as one continuous length, so 4 units is 2 metres in one piece. There is no minimum beyond half a metre.
